Welcome!

Hi there y'all,

Just wanted to welcome you all to the new course we're starting this afternoon, September 16th.

I hope this year will be as productive and fulfilling as last year, and hope we all can achieve the goals to be set out this afternoon in our first meeting session.

Just like last course, this blog alongside the school's website should work as a means of communication among students and the teacher, as well as a place to find useful information which you can use further on in the classroom.

Some assignments will also be set out so as to be fulfilled here. It is advisable to visit this blog once a week at least for that matter, especially if you won't be attending the classes for some time.

Cheers!

5th Week: 24th - 26th November

This week we started explaining how we can speak about our future plans and arrangements in English, or how we can make predictions based on present evidence about the future, as covered in Unit 3 A.

We did exercises 1 and 2 on page 28, and then we read the rules for 'going to' and 'present continuous' on page 130.

The solutions for 1 b are: 2 H, 3 A, 4 F, 5 G, 6 B, 7 I, 8 D and 9 E, and for 1 c are 2 R, 3 J, 4 M, 5 J, 6 R.

On Wednesday, I handed out a worksheet and we reviewed the issue. Then we practiced some listening (pages 27 - unit 2 revision - and 29). We explained how some verbs can have different meanings according to the 'particle' (mainly a preposition) following them (phrasal verbs). We practiced 'look for': try to find something, 'look forward to': wait with pleasure for something which is going to happen, and 'look after': be responsible for or take care of somebody or something.

For the last 30 minutes students wrote their first reading comprehension test this year. I hope to be able to give you the results on Monday.
